Here we go!
It seems like we’ve been waiting forever…finally the Alpenglow Mountain Festival is here! The most popular bi-annual, week and a half of outdoor bliss has arrived. If you’ve missed this event, now is your chance to make it up. Check out the schedule, find something you dig and attend!
The event is organized by Alpenglow Sports out of Tahoe City. This mountain shop has been doing it right for the last thirty-five years. The reason I say this is not only do they provide the best gear and local knowledge around, but they also take pride in doing it the right way. A strong socially and environmentally responsible attachment to the community makes them stand out above the average mountain shop.
So What’s this mountain festival all about?
First of all it’s a ten day festival running from June 20th – June 28th in Tahoe City, CA. The event focuses on highlighting some of the best human-powered activities the Lake has to offer. There will be sports, events, clinics, equipment demos, films and more. Some of the top athletes in their sport will be on hand to give presentations or demonstrations to inspire you to start or to give you that edge to take your game to the next level. For the full schedule go here. Some of the highlights we are looking forward to are listed below.
Here at Local Freshies, we are all about being original. What better way to do this than to make your own custom lid! Yes, one of the title sponsors Bigtruck will be onsite letting you create your own hat. Their style is fresh and unique, so you’re guaranteed to walk away with one of the coolest custom designs ever.
Managing Mountain Risk with Steph Davis
This has always been a hot topic in mountain sports. How far is too far. For expert advice on this who better to help you figure out where the line is than Steph Davis. She has been walking the edge for the last 18 years. Steph is a prAna ambassador who climbs, base jumps and takes wingsuit flights off some of mother nature’s gnarliest peaks. Her presentation will surely get your heart pounding as she details some of her most notable adventures.
