I still remember at a young age reading about all the unique snowboard events that happened out West. Being in the flatlands of Middle America they seemed exciting, legendary, and most of all like a fantasy. One that stood out in my mind was the Boarding for Breast Cancer snowboard and music festival. Seeing the Beastie Boys play on stage at Sierra at Tahoe made me feel like Lake Tahoe was the place to be for snowboarding and the wild culture surrounding it.
Twenty years later Boarding for Breast Cancer is back at it again in their old stomping grounds. This year it’s even bigger and better. If you are like me this is an event that you can’t miss. Here are some of the things to look forward to:
Headlining this event is our good friend Sierra “Rosie” and her partner in crime Bianca “Coco” Casidy from the band CocoRosie. Both musically talented, they combine forces to make a cutting edge sound that will most likely become the future of music. Art is about taking risk and they definitely do with their music. Other band performances will include Panic is Perfect and Family Crest.
Big Air as an Expression
Contests may be a great way to test your abilities, but the sport is all about style and expression. Instead of judges, the crowd’s roar will guide them to focus more on style and personality than points. This year’s event will include Jamie Anderson, Kjersti Buass, Tyler Nicholson, and many more.
Art and more:
From a photo & art exhibition featuring a silent auction curated by Trevor and Nemo design to a village filled with sponsors, raffles, gear, and much, much more. There is so much to do that it will be one hot ticket. If you are anywhere near Lake Tahoe net weekend this is definitely a must see event.
