The Highway Tour Collective (HTC) is officially announcing the next chapter of their adventure series, the Island Highway Tour. For those who don’t know, the HTC is the next big thing combining action sports, adventure, community and environmental awareness. It all started with a group of like-minded thrill seekers, specializing in backcountry adventures, based out of British Columbia who not only appreciate everything the outdoors have to offer, but also want to ensure these resources are here for generations to come. This group is all about using free time to the fullest and giving back. HTCs focus is on making a difference. The premise is to generate digital content around three of the most popular outdoor activities available in this part of the world. World class digital & social media, videography and photography will highlight and capture the crew surfing, biking and skiing/snowboarding some of the most beautifully rugged terrain Mother Nature has to offer. Go to www.highwaytourcollective.com and follow along for full visual coverage of this amazing journey. In mid-July join the team as they travel to an island called Tofino to hunt for the legendary surf known to frequent the western shore.

The Cause
In this part of the world just venturing out into the wilderness is a sensory overload. The scent of pine and neon green leaves from the vegetation captivate your attention. Looking up, the enormous trees block most sunlight with only a few beams penetrating to the forest floor. Natural beauty like this still exists all over Canada. This country is home to some of the largest unbroken tracts of forest on the planet. It is truly magnificent. To preserve these wild lands Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) has taken up the crusade to make sure the next generation gets an opportunity to enjoy these places just like we do today. However, CPAWS isn’t only worried about the great forests of Canada. The mission is to protect all the lands and waters that remain wild.

To raise awareness in support of CPAWS, HTC is dedicating the Island Highway Tour by creating an event through the Big Wild Challenge. This is a one-of-a-kind fundraiser focused on protecting the wilderness across Canada while encouraging participation in excursions you have never done before. The goal of the Big Wild Challenge is to get participants into nature, push them out of their comfort zone and test their personal boundaries. Staying true to the test, HTC will take on surfing, which will be a first. Live to Surf, the original Tofino Surf Shop, will assist the crew while they attempt to surf in one of the most formidable oceans on the planet…the Pacific! This is a true test of mental strength and physical agility for any surfer.

What can you do?
The Big Wild Challenge makes it easy to get involved. You can create an event, participate in an event or donate to an event. Currently, registrations are being accepted for the “Trail Run.” It is a multi-day/multi-city event that will be happening all across Canada. All skill levels are welcomed. To register for the Big Wild Challenge “Trail Run,” visit their website. To learn more about CPAWS go here.

Where?
To take a closer look and to clearly understand what we are fighting to save, the HTC will be on location in the remote town of Tofino. This is a small community with a population of 1,800 residents, located on the western part of Victoria Island just a few hours north of Vancouver. This body of land has the most temperate weather in all of Canada and it will not disappoint.
