The definition of a bucket list is experiences or things one hasn’t done but wants to do before dying. For skiers and snowboarders, it’s about heading to places like the Powder Highway or heli-skiing. But, what if you love mountain biking and the great outdoors? What is THE mountain bike tour / road trip of a lifetime? For us, there’s no question it’s the BC Bike Ride North experience. How come? Let’s check it out.

Reasons to go on the BC Bike Ride North

Location:

British Columbia is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Compared to other parts of North America, you won’t come across nature like Canada has to offer. Northern BC’s vast wilderness is the size of the ENTIRE state of California! And, more importantly, it’s preserved and protected by a world-class system of provincial parks and nature reserves. This region is populated by animals like moose, Rocky Mountain elk, woodland caribou, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and even grizzly bears.

Smithers has a trail system that meanders through alpine country and along pristine rivers, while the Perimeter Trail loops the entire town, making for a level and pleasant ride if you need a more relaxing day.

Prince George, the main city in Northern BC, has a 11-kilometre (6.8-mile) Heritage River Trail System that loops around the city and, like all BC bike trips, takes in plenty of scenery en-route.

Logistics are covered:

    1. We’re on business “hold” for our summer road trips but I would HIGHLY recommend a trip to Idaho… specifically Pomerelle Mountain. Hands down our favorite trip of all time. In fact, we’d go back this year if the shelter-in-place goes down. For a full write-up of our adventure check out: Road Trip Download For more of a Whistler bike park experience skip the crowds and head to Grand Targhee. Full write-up found here: GT – The “Quiet” Version Of Whistler. Stay tuned for me as well.
