Consolidation. That’s the “new” trendy word in the ski industry, and for the 2018-19 season, it’s been happening at a high pitched fury. The latest acquisition surprisingly doesn’t even relate to Alterra or Vail. This time… it’s about Peak Resorts and their $76 MILLION purchase of three resorts owned by Snow Time.

Who is Peak Resorts?

For many of us, we think “Who’s Peak Resorts?” Well, they’re an owner/operator of Midwest and Northeast ski areas including New York City’s closest resort, Hunter Mountain. The majority of their resorts are located within 100 miles of cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland and St. Louis.

They’re latest buying spree has now picked up not one or two but THREE resorts through the acquisition of Snow Time. This small company owned three resorts in Pennsylvania:

  • Roundtop Mountain
  • Liberty Mountain Resort
  • Whitetail Mountain Resort

While on the surface you’d think no big deal, these three resorts are within driving distance of the Baltimore-Washington D.C. market, comprised of nearly 10 million people. Just during the 2017/18 season, they welcomed more than 600,000 visitors.

So, what does this mean for skiers/snowboarders that hit up these resorts? Well, just like the big boys out West, your Drifter season pass gives you access to 18 resorts up and down the east coast including:

Mt Snow

Vermont’s closest big mountain resort with a whole mountain face dedicated to a park, routinely voted as one of the best not just in the East but in North America.

Hunter Mountain

Upstate New York’s premiere four season resort, it’s one of the pioneers in snowmaking, night skiing and now home to the largest expansion east of the Mississippi in over 15 years.

Wildcat Mountain

Considered by many as New England’s most scenic mountain with views of the White Mountains including Mount Washington.

Attitash Mountain

Only twenty minutes away from Wildcat, you can access both resorts on the same trip. And, we all know that it’s not just about the skiing, but the entire experience during your vacation. Attitash is VERY fortunate to be located next to North Conway, voted as one of the best ski towns in multiple publications such as:

If you live on the East Coast, this might be a great season pass option for the upcoming 2018-19 winter.
