When we visited McCall, ID last winter, we heard rumors about the North Fork River. Little did we know at the time this river is home to an extreme kayak race called the North Fork Championship or NFC for short. It’s a competition built to expose the talent of the best kayakers in the world on an amazing piece of whitewater halfway between McCall and Boise in a place named Banks, Idaho.

The NFC is one of our six favorite whitewater kayak events in North America. The coolest part? Besides being on some of the greatest whitewater in North America the event has the previous years’ top 10 finishers vote on the athletes that apply to race in the main event. Finally, it’s also setup to support up and coming kayakers so any charger has the opportunity to come win it all.  With three races, the Melt Awards Film and Photo Festival, and top shelf parties along the way the NFC brings to you the freshest of what the world of kayaking has to offer.
