There are ups and downs living in a mountain town. No, not relating to the happiness factor so don’t get me wrong.  Every day living in Tahoe is better than the last.  I’m speaking about the entertainment!  Right now we just so happen to be starting one of the best spring skiing seasons in the last five years.  We’ve covered why it’s so good on the snow, but what else is going on?  I have to preface by saying Tahoe is definitely the place to be this weekend!  There are so many things to do, you must choose wisely.  The bad news is, you can’t make them all!  Hopefully, the information below will help you select the best option for you and your crew to make the kickoff to spring a good one!

This race is designed for everyone, but won’t be completed by just anyone. If GB25 doesn’t ring a bell let me elaborate.  This event is also known as the Gunbarrel 25.  Just the name is intimidating!  Essentially, racer will compete to see who can complete 25 laps down Heavenly’s most challenging mogul run in six hours.  One of South Lakes favorite annual events, the GB25 will be fun to watch if you enjoy seeing skiers and riders push themselves to the limits.!

17th Annual Heavenly Ski Patrol Fundraiser Party – 3 Ring Circus and Beer Fest

For anyone who is a patron of a ski resort, we all go there under the assumption the mountain is relatively safe in regards to avalanche danger and the snow. It is also assumed that if something happens and we need help, someone will be there.  This reassurance all comes from the great men and women who make up the ski-patrol.  This Saturday evening in South Lake the 3 Ring Circus and Beer Fest will be held to benefit Heavenly Ski Patrol Fund.  There will be carnival games, live music, clowns, an avalanche dog shaved to look like a lion, of course beer and more!  The fund supports Special Olympics Team Tahoe, Live Violence Free, St. Baldricks, Bread and Broth and many other local organizations.
