Every year, the amount of people deciding to explore past the boundaries of ski resorts continues to rise. We understand folks are trying to satisfy their thirst for powder but are they prepared when something goes wrong or to make the best decisions they can about conditions? When we’ve asked a few friends after their powder stories if they’ve had any avalanche training or education, the answer is normally a shocking “No.” Like driving a car without a seat belt, you can be fine, but when an accident does occur, you may end up going through the windshield. Regardless if you’re a beginner, intermediate or expert in the snow world, we HIGHLY recommend checking out your 2021 local avalanche workshop. Some of this year’s events are also virtual providing you the opportunity to learn right from home.

Shout Out To The Nickolay Dodov Foundation!

In 2012, our good friends Alex and Natalia Dodov lost their son in an avalanche in Alaska. He was their best friend, only son and light of their lives. Instead of being consumed by grief that they’d lost their son, they used it as fuel and made it their life’s purpose to educate and teach as many youth as possible to enjoy the mountains but be safe in light of their Nick!

Over the past five years, the NICKOLAY DODOV FOUNDATION has reached out with the avalanche awareness program “Know Before You Go” and presented avalanche workshops to more than 8,000 ski and snowboard athletes, middle school, high school, university students, coaches, teachers, parents and all age mountain enthusiasts.
