The Meeting 2017 – Aspen

A carefully cultivated collection of the year’s best ski and snowboard cinema, The Meeting Film Fest returns to Aspen for its 13th season. Gather the squad and enjoy this visual powder day at the Sundeck, Belly Up Aspen, and of course, the legendary Wheeler Opera House.
The Meeting 13, presented by GoPro, FilmFest will take place Oct. 6-7 and feature screenings of the latest ski and snowboard films in anticipation for the approaching winter season. Films will include “DROP EVERYTHING,” by Matchstick Productions, “Habit,” by Level1, “Arcadia” by TransWorld SNOWboarding and more. Additionally, the FilmFest will once again include the entertaining NEPSA awards that entail a short film contest centered on skiing, snowboarding and comedic acts. New to the NEPSA awards this year, the evening will also feature a photo contest in which local and regional photographers can enter a piece of work that will be displayed in a gallery format prior to the NEPSA video presentation.

Dendrite Studios – Numinous

“Numinous,” by Dendrite Studios, is a ski film that stars Kye Petersen, one of the most aggressive and talented freeskiers of the modern age. In “Numinous,” we follow Kye on the road less travelled, deep into the heart of some of the most aesthetic and demanding landscapes on the planet, where he and a cadre of talented skiers and snowboarders ski pillow lines, wild alpine faces and giant natural hits. “Numinous” is a 40+ minute ski film captured entirely in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada.

Matchstick Productions – Drop Everything

Matchstick Productions is proud to introduce the most hilarious and action-packed ski movie of 2017, “DROP EVERYTHING,” presented by Under Armour. Following an artful, narrative-driven 2016 film release, the team at Matchstick took a decidedly more lighthearted approach that returns the focus to the featured athletes and world-class action. “DROP EVERYTHING” features the world’s preeminent freeskiers along with quick-hitting comedy, stunning locations, a potent soundtrack, and stellar cinematography.

Level 1 – Habit

Habit was created over six months during the winter of 2017 and is the 18th annual feature film that Level1 has produced. The film was shot on location in Iceland, Russia, Finland, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Alaska, Michigan, New York and Utah. The film features athletes such as Tatum Monod, Sämi Ortlieb, Khai Krepela, Thayne Rich, KC Deane, Ahmet Dadali and more.

NEPSA Awards
Photo & Short Film Contest

The NEPSA film contest will once again return with an evening of screening short films produced by local athletes and film makers after which a panel of judges will pronounce the winners. First place will receive $1,000, second place $500, third place $250 with the crowd favorite receiving a GoPro Session. In addition to the annual film contest, the evening has inserted in a new event, a NEPSA photography contest in which all local and regional photographers are encouraged to submit their work for the chance to be displayed in a gallery format prior to the NEPSA film screenings. NEPSA attendees will view the photography and then vote on the best of the evening. Categories will include Best Action ShotMost Creative and Best Scenic, with each category being paid the following prizing–$300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. “Arcadia” is an image or idea of life in a place believed to be perfect. It is a promised land. It is untouched turns, lap after lap. It is a polished handrail with no cops. It is a pristine cliff with a bottomless landing. The film will feature Halldór Helgason, Alek Oestreng, BYND X MDLS, Victor Daviet, Jesse Paul, The Manboys, Jordan Small and Victor De Le Rue.

Shredbots – R3boot

A fun loving collective of some of the best snowboarders on the planet, Shredbots productions bring you their third full length release, “R3bOOT,” featuring Torstein Horgmo, Craig McMorris, Brage Richenberg, Mark Sollors, Kyle Mack, Anto Chamberland, Nik Baden,and Brandon Davis.
