Waterfront Tavern

Where do Ted Bundy, the DC Sniper, and the Hillside Strangler hang out? At the Waterfront Tavern. The real question is why? Maybe that it’s tucked away in a quiet neighborhood far from the main drag of Bellingham, WA. Or that the bar is right on the ocean. In fact, it sits on stilts in the harbor. The place looks like a spot where sea captains from the Deadliest Catch would hang out. Walking through the doors, the ambiance feels strangely comfortable like a VFW with a gambling license. It might feel strange just because you could imagine seeing one of those fabled murderers sitting on a stool quietly sipping a beer.

A Place To Feel “Normal”

On one wall sits a copy of “Catcher in the Rye.” For some reason a lot of murderers when caught are found to own this book. They state it makes them feel normal. In addition to the book, the walls are also covered with newspaper clippings along with old school beer signs. Even with all this dark history the price for a cold pint is unbelievably affordable and the fried seafood itself is decent. The hard-working patrons might be a little rough around the edges, but it gives the place its character. If you want to enjoy something unique, this is definitely a place to check out.
