Since my first visits to Bend back in 2001, the town has gone from a lumber hub to a Beervana. Back then there were just 14 breweries. Today there are 30, and Bend has become a full-blown cosmopolitan playground. Some favorites like Addy Macs Ice Cream (private catering only) have closed, but we’ve also found plenty of new must eat spots you need to hit when in Bend Oregon. If you’re coming to town to ride, check out our Bend mountain biking guide for where we’d ride, shuttles, seasonal tips, lodging, and everything else we’ve learned from exploring Bend on two wheels. Here’s the rundown on where you need to eat in Bend Oregon.

Fuel Up Bend Style: Breakfast Before Adventure

Before a day of adventure in Bend, breakfast is non-negotiable. We started at Mothers Café for fresh, local fare, smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and their standout Monte Cristo sandwich with ham, egg, Havarti, and marionberry jam on a toasted English muffin. Sweet and salty perfection.

If you have a bit more time for brunch, The Victorian Café is a must. This cozy converted home near the roundabout to Mount Bachelor Ski Resort has been serving locals for over 30 years. Their Eggs Benedict is legendary. The SW Benedict brings a touch of chipotle heat while the Two of Hearts stacks crab and lobster, a special they only run about four times a year. Top it all off with a 24-ounce Proud Mary Bloody with a Cajun spice rim, which has been winning awards for more than 15 consecutive years. That is a breakfast built to fuel any adventure.

So What About Lunch or Dinner?

One of the perks of Bend’s growing food scene is that choices and quality keep expanding.

Miyagi Ramen – Authentic Japanese with a Creative Twist

For a taste of authentic Japanese with a creative twist, Miyagi Ramen is a must. The menu is small but expertly crafted, with rich, savory broths and fresh ingredients. They also stand out for accommodating dietary needs—gluten-free noodles are cooked in separate water to avoid contamination, making it easy for everyone to enjoy.

Bangers and Brews – For Lovers of Encased Meats

If you’re anything like me and think the two best words in the English language are “encased meats,” then Bangers and Brews is your spot. I don’t usually rely on rankings to tell me what’s good, but when Yelp named Bangers & Brews #1 in the “Top 100 Places to Eat in the USA” back in 2019, I have to admit they got it right. It takes a lot for me to be impressed by sausages, but this place completely blew my mind.

Everything here is locally sourced and the sausages are anything but ordinary, with flavors like rabbit and venison that you won’t find just anywhere. And whatever you do, don’t skip the Chimichurri. This vibrant Argentine sauce is served with sliced bread and has been perfected by the Chimichurri Grandma over decades. She made it for her three boys and now shares it with her granddaughter Lili, bringing warmth and history to every bite.

Wild Rose – Northern Thai Done Right

For Thai food fans, Wild Rose is a must. Unlike many Thai restaurants, its cuisine is rooted in the owner’s hometown of Chiang Mai, more than 400 miles north of Bangkok, and features a heavier use of dried spices, turmeric, and tamarind than southern Thai food. At Wild Rose Northern Thai Eats, curries are boiled rather than fried, and red meats like beef brisket and spicy sausage take center stage.

Our friends who have traveled Thailand swear it is as authentic as it gets. No Pad Thai here. This popular rice noodle dish was relatively unknown in Thailand before World War Two, and you will not be offered chopsticks, which are not typically used in Thai dining.

Pro tip: This place fills up fast, so grab a reservation if you can.

Bonta Gelato – Sweet Finishing Touch

And for dessert, leave some room for Bonta Gelato. Jaime has taken multiple trips to Italy and Bonta’s one-of-a kind flavors and its creamy concoctions are as good as them and makes sure we ALWAYS hit this up as our last stop at night.

Can’t Decide? Let Bend’s Food Trucks Decide for You

Still can’t pick a spot? Bend’s food truck scene has your back. The original “the Lot” kicked it off with daily rotating carts, and now there are plenty more, including Podski, On Tap, River’s Place, and Bend Midtown Yacht Club—perfect for sampling a little bit of everything and keeping it casual.

Drink Coffee. Do Stuff.

Crowsfeet Commons Bend Oregon

The Northwest is full of roadside drive-thru coffee stands, perfect for a road trip, but I’m more about sitting down to enjoy a well-crafted coffee and conversation. Fortunately, Bend has no shortage of high-quality coffee houses. For a classic urban artisanal spot with light roasted beans, check out Backporch Coffee Roasters.

Another favorite is The Commons Café and Taproom in Old Town Bend, a community hub that started as a bike shop serving beer and coffee. Housed in one of Bend’s oldest craftsman bungalows and the last one standing east of Mirror Pond, it’s full of charm with creaky floors, exposed beams, and rich lumber details.

As you can see Bend isn’t just a playground for adventure, it’s a foodie playground too. From monster breakfasts to killer ramen, game meat sausages to gelato that’ll make you weak in the knees, there’s something for every craving. Grab a coffee, hit a food truck, or sit down somewhere cozy, just skip the chains. Bend’s got flavor, personality, and plenty of spots that’ll have you coming back for seconds and thirds. Trust us, your stomach will thank you.
