Neilson River Race 2024 – St Raymond
May 18 - May 19
A home grown grass roots competition, the race is located off a dirt road 30 minutes outside of Saint Raymond, Quebec. It starts at the Big Eyes Rapid and follows the river for approximately 6 km. Filled with class IV and V rapids, the race finishes up at the famed Double Drop. A little different from the other races mentioned in our 6 best kayak races article, teams consist of two racers and the time trial ends when BOTH members cross the finish line.

Saturday
10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Registration ($20 cash)
1:00 pm – Pre-Race Meeting
2:00 pm – Racers start above the Big Eyes rapid
After the race, a friendly boater-cross will be held on the paddle out if the water level is high enough. Everyone is welcome, even those who didn’t race the big course and want to have fun and make a few strokes. An additional shuttle will be at the take-out to carry the boats to the top of the paddle-out.
After-party
Party and results will be held at the Roquemont Hotel & Bar in Saint-Raymond. They serve food and brew their own beer. You can reserve room for the night there as well.
