For some it’s about the price. For others, it’s the fashion sense. Since we put in forty to sixty days on the mountain from November typically into June or later, we want equipment for skiing and snowboarding that will last a LONG time. After a few years of being on the fence, we finally got ourselves a pair of Northwest Tech custom ski pants. And I have to say after a few days of riding with them, I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
Like Ordering A Car
As soon as you jump onto their site to order, you feel like a VIP. Pick these colors. Choose where to put the zippers. Bib or no bib. As soon as the order goes in, they’ll send you another questionnaire to make sure that you get the fit you want. And presto… order is in.
Patience Is Key
Since they make-to-order each and every custom ski pants, jackets, and other gear, it takes time for you to get it. The initial email stated that it may take up to 21 days, but it came in about two weeks. The cool thing though is you continue to get periodic updates on the manufacturing process. You feel as though you’re part of the process and get even more excited.
Craftsmanship Is Still Here

As you open the package, the 1st thing you’ll see is a signed paper of the person who made the pants giving it the final touch of craftsmanship. The feeling you get from them is how much pride they put in their work. Less like a cookie cutter McMansion and more like a Victorian home.
Quality Materials

They look and feel bomb proof. The pockets are big enough to hold granola bars, a balaclava, and any other items that you may need (like your AIARE blue book). Zippers have a waterproof lining on the outside to make sure that what’s in them stays dry. While we haven’t had a chance to ride with these custom snowboard pants in wet snow just yet, we expect good things. The material they use is 20,000 mm which is in the same category as Gore-Tex. The Only Down-Side
Let me preface first that I’m oddly tall and finding clothes that fit me is next to impossible. With a 36-inch inseam and 33-inch waist, it’s unbelievably rare to find something that DOES fit me. It always looks like I’m wearing my younger brother’s pants if you catch my drift. Although you can pick the colors and designs to make a pair of custom ski pants, they can only make them so long within their parameters. I went with a XXLT, and they’re still about a half inch too short for my preferences. BUT, compared to my other ski pants that I’ve purchased in years past, these are EONS better in length.
Who Would Like Northwest Tech

Like any premium product made with superior materials, it’s going to cost a bit more than most overseas made clothing. If you’re a person that’s looking for bomb-proof clothing that can take a beating for years to come, you’ll enjoy them. And the best part is that you can help support a company that’s still makes custom ski clothing made in the USA.
