Our latest adventure is one we’d NEVER heard of, but it makes total sense! Typically, camping means you have to choose either setting up camp in a valley somewhere or hike up 2,000 vertical feet for access to majestic views. Well, what if you could get the mountain top views but not have to do the work? That’s where lift accessed camping comes in.

Where Can You Go To Get Lift Accessed Camping?

Fernie ski resort, located on the Powder Highway, is the first of its kind to offer this luxury. In its 4th year, this is a VIP experience without the big price tag you’d expect. Starting around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, you’ll load the Timber Chairlift which will whisk you up to nearly 5,700 feet above sea level. With it being summer and located further north, you’ll have plenty of time to take a guided hike. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy a raclette dinner at the Lost Boys Café. And, like any good camping outing, the meal is followed by campfire s’mores. Looking up from the fire, you’ll enjoy an amazing night sky that only interior British Columbia could provide.

After a restful night on a mountaintop, you’ll wake to a breakfast at the Lost Boys Café. From there, you’ll pack up & clean the campsite and then have the choice to ride the lift down or… spend some more time sightseeing. With easy access to hiking trails and a high likelihood of seeing mountain goats, we’d suggest the latter.

So, How Much Does It Cost?
