According the their website the origins of adventure racing dates back to the 80’s, but didn’t break into the mainstream until the early 2,000’s. In 2003 Primal Quest became the first event of its kind to debut on network television through CBS Sports. This wildly popular adventure returns after a 5 year hiatus with a “grassroots” approach. It’s back to a familiar location. PQ was held in Tahoe during the second edition in 2003. The organizational goal is to put on an amazing event, connect with the community and to give back. It should be spectacular.
With the announcement that Outside Television will be documenting and broadcasting the extraordinary pursuit, fans will be able to catch all the action as teams travel through the Sierra’s via mountain bike, hiking, paddling, ascending and rappelling. Each team will be given a map to navigate, mandatory gear, a list of rules and time cut-offs. One GPS per team will be issued so you can track them as they progress through the course.
This will be a grueling event that will test athletes not only physically, but mentally. For more details head to Primal Quest Expedition.
