The calendar has hit March and that means spring is on the way, whether you like it or not. And one of our favs knows how to take it up a notch for true spring-fling magnitude. It’s called the Teton Surf Classic and it could only be at Grand Targhee. When the sun shines (or maybe a sneaker-pow day… you never know with Mother Nature), Grand Targhee will throw down with a true hardcore snowboard contest you don’t want to miss. No boring repeat jumps here. You have to surf the course, like a wave, and make it as smooth and stylish as you can. We got to ride The Ghee this past February and every time we go back, we never want to leave. If you’re looking for something springy-but-snowy to add to your calendar, pencil in Grand Targhee this coming April. It might make you sad to say goodbye to winter but be ready to book your trip back to this special place next season when the powder piles up in Grand Targhee fashion.
Check the Grand Targhee website for updates to the contest. Current (tentative) date is April 11, 2026. 📸

Ever since we first rolled into @pomerellemountain back in 2017, we find ourselves coming back season after season. And it’s not exactly in our backyard. It’s a solid 9 hr drive… and worth every mile. Ski areas like this are becoming harder to find. You know the type. Those places with people having fun, a relaxed vibe that’s just about the skiing, and uncrossed slopes with powder and perfect corduroy you wish you could ride everyday. That’s why it’s exciting to see the legacy continue, with longtime employees Zack Alexander and his wife Crystal stepping in as the new owners. Yup - Pomerelle has a new family to carry the torch forward. It feels right, like Pomerelle’s soul is in good hands.

We probably should be cooking a turkey or Christmas shopping… but there’s just so much fun to be had in the shed right now. We know the holidays are coming when the smell of melting wax fills the air. Raise your hand 👋 if you’re with us!

Did someone say trees? Sorry… did I mishear and you said pillows? Wait! Big bowl lines? I can’t keep up! If you’re brave enough to take on White Grizzly, you better be ready for all of it. If you only go #catskiing once in your life, this could be your spot to cross off that bucket list item and remember it for eternity. It could also ruin other cat skiing trips by setting the bar too high for your first time out of the gate, but who complains about that? So sorry if White Grizzly makes your “other” cat skiing experiences suck by being too awesome.

Eat your breakfast. Pack that lunch. And hit the (cat)tracks… then we’ll see you at dinner. That about sums up a day out with the White Grizzly crew. Snow is snow and cat operations are all the same, right? Um… that’s a big NO! That’s like saying all ski resorts are the same or all mountains are alike. Cat operations are as different as they come. You can go #catskiing 10 different times and have completely different experiences. But the shining glory for White Grizzly, not mentioning they are on the famed Powder Highway, is you will feel like each day is a 2-for-1 special. A lot of operations will tout getting you 10,000’ vert a day. White Grizzly? Think more like 15,000-20,000 a day! Yeah, that’s a real stat. Their meticulous building of steep cat roads and the terrain in their playground lends itself to 3,000’ avg. runs across the day to a reality of racking up big numbers when it comes to vertical. And with a consistently more skilled clientele sniffing out White Grizzly as their winter choice, your stellar ski/board crew in that cat with you will keep the momentum rolling throughout the day. Onward #powderhounds!

The real question is… who did it better? Man or beast?

What goes up… must come down. And unless you’re doing a #mtb shuttle run, the down is happening at the reward of all your uphill effort. If you’re lucky enough to pick a ride that has just as much scenery uphill as downhill, you know you made a great choice. Lake Tahoe is famous for that. Some of our ascents are harder than others, but if you pay the price uphill, you’ll get the reward downhill.
