I’ve lived by the mantra that you can’t complain about a problem unless you propose a solution to it. Except for last winter, the few seasons prior in Lake Tahoe have been horrendous not just for the ski resorts but also the small businesses in the towns around the lake. It was painful for many stores and restaurants and a few didn’t survive the bad drought.
Instead of just standing on the sidelines and grumbling about the economy, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to create a film highlighting that the region around Lake Tahoe is resilient and has a TON to offer besides the snow. This is when I began to ask… “What inspires people to move to a ski town? Is there something that connects all these souls that call Tahoe home? Is it only about the snow or is there more to it?” As part of making our new short film named Tahoe: The Daily Routine, we got a chance to answer this question.
1st Stop: Basecamp Beer Garden – Saturday November 19th
This Saturday, we will be premiering our film at Basecamp Beer Garden in South Lake Tahoe. And, if that wasn’t enough, we’re also going to show 4Frnt’s new film: Here and Now. This is their 6th film highlighting that in a world where nearly everyone’s head is buried in a mobile device, our friendships and interactions between human beings are dwindling away. It’s up to us to change that and interact with each other by living in the HERE and NOW!
