Ever since the Indy Pass ski idea was conceived, it’s been the anti-mega pass. Instead of herding people like cattle onto the slopes, they’re focused on providing a high-quality experience AND an affordable option for skiers and snowboarders. They’ve walked this fine line by providing Indy Passholders only two days at each of its 185+ ski resorts (both XC and downhill). And to continue to ensure they don’t overwhelm partner resorts, they’re yet again placing a restriction on total passes sold for the 2024/25 season.
The Indy Revolution Is Here
As some may or may not have realized, the Indy Pass roster of ski areas has continued to expand exponentially over the years. For 2023/24 there were more than 185 ski resorts you could visit including Japan ski resorts. It proved that it isn’t just another multi-resort pass but something much bigger. That many were over the over-crowded corporate owned ski resorts and looking for something different. It created a large loyal fanbase of skiers and snowboarders looking for that relaxed vibe and unique experience on the slopes that only independent ski resorts could provide.
Big Growth Leads To Big Changes
As Epic and Ikon pass holders can attest, a big increase in pass holders has ruined powder days at their resorts. Unbearably long lift lines and gridlock traffic to get to the resort. Indy Pass doesn’t want that to happen at their resorts. And the easiest way to help was for them to put a restriction on the amount of season passes they sold as part of the 2023/24 season and this continues for this year.
200+ Resorts Guaranteed!
Compared to the other multi-resort pass companies the Indy Pass team has to re-new their contract with each and every partner each year. This hard work with all their independent partners ensures that each ski area is happy with their offering and it’s paying off! There won’t be just 185 ski resorts you could visit for the upcoming season but over 200+ (both XC and downhill) will be guaranteed.
Current Passholders Get First Dibs And More
Another positive note to call out is that if you already have or had an Indy Pass in past years, you’re given first opportunity to get one for next season. If that wasn’t enough they will continue to offer the season pass for the same price at $279. Be aware that you have until March 8th to get one before the open spots are made available to the general public. For those that haven’t gotten an Indy Pass, once they release them to the public on March 8th be aware that the season passes are available until they’re sold out.
An Actual Pass!
One of the ONLY cons I had regarding the Indy Pass was that you needed to walk up to the ticket window at every resort. If it was a busy day, this could add wait time before you can get on the slopes. In addition, having something REAL to carry makes you feel good. For the 2023/24 season, they issued actual commemorative RFID passes. Having a physical pass means that a select set of Indy resorts will provide direct-to-lift access as well as expedited pick-up at all Indy resorts.
We’re devout followers of the Indy Pass, as anyone who reads our content knows. While we own an Epic pass since our two local resorts are on it, we make it a point to hit up independently owned resorts when we go on road trips. Places like Soldier Mountain and Brundage re-energize us on what skiing is all about.
Thanks for the update, Alex and Jamie. We’re stoked to have you on the Revolution! 👍❄️
Love my pass!! Already have next years purchased. Support small resorts.
